If so, it means VDH is running and the problem is "only" about the icon disappearing in the toolbar, which is an issue we have heard about without being able to reproduce it. Another way to see if the add-on is running is to right click in a page an see if there is a "Video DownloadHelper" entry in the menu that opens.
